What’s the role?

We’re looking for an ambitious Associate Engineer who’s ready to take their knowledge and capability to the next level. BuildX provides an opportunity to grow your skills and experience and lock in your dream job with our customers. We focus on removing the confidence gap common in people who are entering or transitioning into the technology sector.
The role in BuildX involves the following:
  •  Mentorship: We’ll surround you with technology experts who are masters of their craft and ready to share their knowledge and experience.
  • Formal training: We make it our mission to support you as you strive for self-improvement. You’ll follow our proprietary learning journey designed to broaden your technology skillset.
  • Hands-on experience: We’ll help you start shipping production-ready code by putting you to work on meaningful projects.

What a typical day involves:

  •  Completing training activities focused on building your capabilities
  • Putting training into practice in your pod (supported by a Senior Engineer)
  • Shipping working code to support overall delivery with a focus on continuous improvement of your capabilities and output
  • Collaborating with your assigned mentor on your current progress and future focuses
  • Grabbing the keyboard and digging in!

Sounds great, but do my skills fit the role?

If you answer yes to the following prompts, you’re the person we’re looking for:
  •  You apply strong analytical skills to complex technical challenges and push to make the uncomfortable, comfortable
  • You have formal education or previous experience working in technology
  • You’re comfortable writing and reviewing code in at least one language
  • You demonstrate ownership of what you build and take pride in your work
  • You embrace roadblocks and take the initiative to get things done
  • Empathy comes naturally to you

What’s in it for you!

  •  We provide a highly competitive salary with paid vacation time and other benefits
  • You can work from anywhere in Canada (with intermittent in-person events and co-location)
  • We provide you with dedicated time to focus on your growth and development via mentoring and our proprietary learning journey
  • After a year, you’ll have the opportunity to gain a new role at a prestigious Canadian firm
  • You’ll have the chance to join an awesome culture and to learn from the best in the business
